Collaboration in Commercial AV

Supporting Success at The Lodge

In the world of commercial AV, collaboration is often the key to delivering exceptional results, especially when working within tight deadlines. Our recent partnership with Magnum Opus Audio Video on The Lodge, a new restaurant at the University of Montana, is a perfect example of how teamwork and shared expertise can make a complex project run smoothly while delivering an elevated experience for the client.

About The Lodge: A Vibrant New Campus Space

The Lodge isn’t just another dining hall—it’s a space designed to foster connection, creativity, and comfort. With stunning architecture, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light, it serves as a hub for students and faculty to gather, study, and enjoy meals. But great spaces need great sound. To enhance the environment, the AV setup had to meet high-performance standards without detracting from the modern design of the space.

This is where Magnum Opus Audio Video came in with their design expertise. From the beginning, they understood the importance of balancing form and function, ensuring that the AV system would blend seamlessly into the architecture while providing rich, even sound coverage across the entire venue.

Meeting the Deadline with Experienced Support

Magnum Opus Audio Video took the lead in designing and managing the AV installation at The Lodge, ensuring that every detail met the client’s expectations. However, with a tight installation window and multiple systems to integrate, they knew the key to success would be expanding their labor force with skilled, reliable professionals. That’s when they brought in Smart Home Solutions to provide additional experienced labor and help execute the installation efficiently.

Our role was clear: to support their vision by handling key aspects of the speaker installation and system setup. The system featured Leon 70-volt speakers powered by LEA Professional amplifiers, a setup designed to ensure that the audio was evenly distributed throughout the space, regardless of the crowd size or noise level. These components were chosen not just for their performance but also for their reliability in large, public settings.

By joining forces, we were able to install and fine-tune the system within a tight timeframe without sacrificing the quality that The Lodge deserved.

Key Elements of the AV Installation

1. Leon 70-Volt Speakers: Premium Performance for Public Spaces

Leon’s 70-volt speakers are a popular choice for commercial settings, known for their ability to deliver powerful, crystal-clear sound over large areas. The 70-volt system allows multiple speakers to be connected across long distances without losing audio fidelity, making it perfect for spaces like The Lodge, where even sound distribution is critical.

2. LEA Professional Amplifiers: Intelligent Power Management

LEA amplifiers were selected for their advanced capabilities, including remote monitoring and tuning. This allows the team to make adjustments and troubleshoot as needed, even after installation. For a busy campus environment, having an amplifier that can be managed remotely means fewer disruptions and faster service if issues arise.

3. Strategic Placement and Calibration

One of the challenges of a large, open space like The Lodge is ensuring there are no audio dead zones. Working closely with Magnum Opus Audio Video, we focused on precise placement of each speaker to avoid uneven coverage or overlapping sound fields. After installation, we conducted calibration tests to ensure consistent volume and clarity from corner to corner.

The Power of Collaboration

The success of this project wouldn’t have been possible without the open communication and collaboration between the teams. Magnum Opus Audio Video’s well-organized approach and clear project management ensured that everyone stayed aligned on the overall goals and deadlines. By supplementing their team with additional support from Smart Home Solutions, we were able to streamline the workflow and avoid common pitfalls that can arise during large-scale AV installations.

This partnership demonstrates how expanding a talented team with specialized support can make even the most time-sensitive projects manageable. When AV companies collaborate rather than compete, the results can exceed client expectations and create new opportunities for both teams.

A Great Collaboration Experience

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was the chance to work alongside such a talented and professional team. Jason and Luis from Smart Home Solutions thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the Magnum Opus Audio Video crew. The atmosphere was positive and team-oriented, with a shared commitment to delivering the best possible outcome for the University of Montana.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Mike Thompson for bringing us in on this exciting project. Being part of a cutting-edge installation like The Lodge was an incredible opportunity that reinforced our belief in the power of partnership. It’s projects like these that remind us why we love what we do and inspire us to keep building strong relationships within the AV industry.

The Value of Partnership in AV

When AV companies join forces, the benefits go far beyond meeting deadlines. Here are just a few of the key advantages of collaboration:

1. Faster Execution

With more skilled hands on deck, large projects can be completed on schedule—even when timelines are tight. Bringing in additional labor doesn’t just speed up the process; it also helps prevent burnout and ensures that every aspect of the installation receives the attention it deserves.

2. Smooth Project Flow

When teams work together, they can share knowledge and adapt quickly to challenges. By dividing responsibilities and maintaining open lines of communication, collaboration helps avoid bottlenecks and keeps the workflow steady from start to finish.

3. Stronger Professional Relationships

Positive partnerships foster mutual respect and trust. Working with other AV professionals creates opportunities for future collaboration and builds a stronger, more connected community.

Conclusion: Building a Stronger Industry Through Collaboration

At Smart Home Solutions, we believe that true success in the AV industry comes from working together. Our collaboration with Magnum Opus Audio Video at The Lodge is a prime example of how partnerships can result in exceptional outcomes for clients and rewarding experiences for teams. By combining our strengths, we were able to deliver a seamless AV experience that enhances The Lodge’s welcoming atmosphere.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this project and look forward to more opportunities to support and grow alongside our industry partners. Whether it’s a large commercial installation or a small smart home upgrade, collaboration remains at the heart of everything we do.
